AhlulBayt News Agency: Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has warned that the Israeli regime’s ban on the organization threatens the vital medical lifeline it provides to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli regime has banned dozens of relief groups in Gaza, including MSF, claiming the NGO refused to hand over a detailed list of its Palestinian staff members.
According to media reports on Sunday, an MSF official told Al Jazeera that the situation is becoming increasingly dire due to Israel’s continued obstruction of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the besieged enclave.
MSF official Craig Kenzie warned that a critical humanitarian lifeline for Gaza could be “completely taken away” within weeks as a result of the Israeli ban on the organization’s operations.
Kenzie explained that MSF provides around 20 percent of hospital beds, one‑third of childbirth services, and more than 800,000 medical consultations annually in Gaza.
“This is a massive impact and an essential lifeline for the population of Gaza that is potentially looking to be completely taken away in the next couple of weeks,” he said from al‑Mawasi in Gaza.
He added that access to clean drinking water will become a “huge concern” if MSF and other international NGOs are forced to leave. “We are distributing over 4.5 million liters of water a day — that’s about 65 km of jerry cans lined up every single day.”
In addition to providing drinking water, international relief organizations in Gaza deliver essential services including healthcare, food distribution, shelter, sanitation, education, and psychological support.
Ninety percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been destroyed by Israeli forces.
On Sunday, the Israeli regime announced that the international medical aid charity providing this essential lifeline will be forced to leave Gaza before the end of the month.
Israeli officials claim some MSF employees are linked to the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas. MSF has rejected the accusation, calling the ban a “pretext to obstruct humanitarian assistance” to Palestinians in Gaza.
